Anonymous asked: i know it's not really one of the question but how did you get over your social anxiety?
Years and years of therapy, hah. I was in therapy for about 3 years and a majority of that was used to vent and learn CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy. It wasn’t particularly easy and I am pretty stubborn so cognitive restructuring seemed like something that wasn’t going to work. However, after a while of consistently working on it - it essentially worked. Mind over matter. Also, a part of CBT is identifying what makes you anxious and not avoiding it. So, exposure has been one of the best things for my anxiety. Whenever something makes me anxious, I force myself to do it regardless. After the fact, it may make me anxious again but overall I do feel less anxious then I did the first time. (Eventually I won’t feel anxious about it at all.)
I hope that helped!
